Porterhouse Blue is set at Cambridge University, it centres around the fictional Porterhouse College, whose genially eccentric fellows are the proud guardians of six centuries of tradition in which oar-pulling prowess and gourmet cuisine have taken priority over academic achievement.
Drama ensues when reform-minded Sir Evans (Ian Richardson) is appointed headmaster. Determined to modernise this old-fashioned institution, Evans finds himself at odds with its recalcitrant staff, chief among them the devious Skullion (David Jason). It's a battle of wills, and no one is spared as this dark comedy lampoons privileged pupils, professors, and politicians alike.
I originally saw this on Channel 4 when it was transmitted 20 years ago and liked it, 20 years later the condom scene, which is vitally important to the entire story, made me ask Why didn't he just put them in the dustbin? Other than spotting this plot sillyness, it was still pretty funny and it shows David Jason can play good characters unlike that moron Del-Boy!
No trailer, but heres a compilation of clips that may not be suitable for children...
