In the 13th Warrior, based in Micheal Crichtons novel Eaters of the Dead, which is based on the legend of Beowulf, which BTW is very different to the movie of the same name! Its 922ad, Ahmad Ibn Fadlan (Antonio Banderas), a Muslim emissary from Baghdad going to meet the King of Saqaliba, who encounters a group of Vikings. In time he develops an understanding with the warriors and is welcomed into their society by their leader, Buliwyf (Vladimir Kulich).
They receive word of an invasion by a huge pack of bloodthirsty invaders who will destroy and eat anything in their path, including the flesh of the dead, and Ibn must join them on their quest to rid the world of these creatures!
Reading this back, the 13th Warrior sounds quite a poor film, but is very good, I thoroughly recommend it!
