Blood Diamond is set in the Sierra Leone civil war of the 1990s, its the story of Danny Archer (Leonado DiCaprio), a South African mercenary, and Solomon Vandy (Djimon Hounsou), a poor Mende fisherman.
While in prison for smuggling, Archer learns that Solomon was taken from his family and forced to work as a slave in the diamond fields, but found and hid the valuable stone. With the help of Maddy Bowen (Jennifer Connelly), an American journalist whose idealism is softened by a romantic attachment to Archer, the two men embark on a life-threatening trek through rebel territory, to save Solomons family and make them both rich!
I have been a big DiCaprio fan since Catch Me If You Can, and his part in Blood Diamond is as good as ever, I did find the movie a little drawn out though, it could have benefited from trimming 20 minutes out of it, otherwise very good!

Hi Combom ... about your profile views ... Blogger changed the way that views are updated about two months ago, there was some stuff about it on the Help Forums. I can't remember the details now, but it was something like the total views is updated every ten days or something. I think the reason they did it was to reduce bandwidth and database updates for profiles. If you visit the Help Forums you should find a whole heap of threads about it!:)

ReplyDeleteYes, it's a bit iffy how it works, there's a thread about it here, and quite a few others if you rummage around in the Help system. It'll update sooner or later - later rather than sooner it seems - oh well!
