In the UK we have lifeboats, in the USA they have Coast Guard rescue swimmers. In the Guardian, legendary and decorated rescue swimmer Ben Randall (Kevin Costner), still haunted by the death of his team mates during a disastrous mission, is appointed to teach at an elite Coast Guard school.
He trains and inspire cocky upstart Jake Fischer (Ashton Kutcher) to a level of excellence, courtesy of some unorthodox methods. But as Ben helps the young hotshot increase his ability, he is also aiming to strengthen his character.
The Guardian is another of the best movies I have seen this year, Costner always seems to pick the right movies to be in, even if they aren't box-office friendly! The alternative ending sucked though (as they often do!) :) You must see this movie!
I collect DVDs, we have over 3,000 titles in the house now! I buy most from Car Boot Sales,Poundshops, markets, sales, and greatly reduced from the internet, but I only buy what I want to watch! I do a short report when I watch them, I got rid of almost 800 titles at Christmas 2010 (low score, duplicates, ones I'd never watch etc.) I continue to wade through them, and appear to be buying slightly less, but still watching like mad :)
