The Last Mimzy is an adaptation of a short story by Lewis Padgett, about Noah Wilder (Chris ONeil) and his younger sister, Emma (Rhiannon Leigh Wryn), who discover a box of interesting artefacts on the beach. When the objects begin to act in a strange and mysterious way, the pair decide to hide them from their mother Jo (Joely Richardson) and father David (Timothy Hutton).
When Noah begins to display an interest in advanced scientific concepts, his teacher Larry White (Rainn Wilson) takes an interest in him, and the children become of interest to the government, after they cause a large blackout. They find they are to help save the future of mankind, and Emmas precious stuffed rabbit, Mimzy, is something much more than it appears to be, having an Intel logo on it at molecular level!
The Last Mimzy is an odd movie, defiantly for kids, but explores some really interesting concepts. If I'm honest, I bought this for the Roger Waters video on the extras, but I really enjoyed this and thinking about it afterwards does have a lot of material that are bound to appear in more adult movies! Great!
I collect DVDs, we have over 3,000 titles in the house now! I buy most from Car Boot Sales,Poundshops, markets, sales, and greatly reduced from the internet, but I only buy what I want to watch! I do a short report when I watch them, I got rid of almost 800 titles at Christmas 2010 (low score, duplicates, ones I'd never watch etc.) I continue to wade through them, and appear to be buying slightly less, but still watching like mad :)
