Rising Damp the Movie is a spin-off from the hit TV series of the same name. Rigsby (Leonard Rossiter) is still renting rooms to an African chief, Philip (Don Warrington), an new art student John (Christopher Strauli), who replaced Alan (Richard Beckinsale) after his untimely death, and a shady English gentleman Seymour (Denholm Elliott), while he continues to pursue Miss Jones (Frances De La Tour).

The story is a compilation of the best bits from the script from the TV series, which also became the stage play Rising Damp The Banana Box. The last 10 minutes of the film sees Rigsby becoming a father figure to John, denying the real origin of Philip, and arousing interest from Ruth, so it ties it all up too!
