American History X DVD Report

For months friends have been telling me to watch American History X, I finally bought it and watched it earlier.

The film tells the story of Derek Vinyard (Edward Norton) and Danny Vinyard (Edward Furlong) of Venice Beach, Los Angeles. Both are extremely bright and charismatic students, but are drawn into the Neo-Nazi underground after their father is killed by a black drug dealer while trying to put out a fire at a suspected drug den. This story tells how Danny is influenced by his older brother's actions and their journey away from a world of hate.

I have watched a few gang violence type movies recently, so I suppose watching this was only a matter of time, but what a great movie it was! I recommend it to anyone!

It also made me think on a personal level, the quote from the end of American History X Hate is baggage, Life's too short to be pissed off all the time made me think, I believe I have lost most of my hate baggage over the last decade or so, people have to make a real effort to make my shit list now and I'm a patient man too, make of that what you will!

Here is the trailer...
