I bought Firefox with 23 other Clint Eastwood movies this weekend. But is it as good as it was in 1982?
The film details a joint Anglo-American plot to steal a highly advanced Soviet fighter aircraft (MiG-31, NATO code name "Firefox") which is capable of Mach 5, is invisible to radar, and carries weapons controlled by thought. Eastwood stars as Major Mitchell Gant, a Vietnam veteran who infiltrates the Soviet Union, aided by his ability to speak Russian (due to his Russian mother) and a network of dissidents and sympathizers. His goal is to fly the Firefox back to the United States for analysis.
The special effects let the movie down a little, you can tell the planes aren't really in the clouds, but as its total fantasy anyhow, you can suspend reality, so its still a great movie, Clint Eastwood is as good as ever, he is another actor who only plays himself, but he does it so well! Firefox is still a great movie!
Here is the trailer...
