I Am Legend is a film based on the novel with the same name by Richard Matheson’s is the third adaptation of the book, preceded by The Omega Man and The Last Man On Earth. It is an intriguing idea, and because the events depicted in the film could be considered realistic to some degree it makes for a much scarier experience. One of this films strengths is its ability to bring the inconceivably dire situation of the main character, Dr. Robert Neville (Will Smith), home to us front and center. The film begins at a point in time where as a viewer we have no idea what has happened, and slowly the blanks are filled in through flashbacks and other clues. The opening and middle portion of the movie are the strongest, exploring how one would survive and cope in the middle of a desolate New York City.
Mankinds last, best hope, Neville is driven by only one remaining mission: to find an antidote using his own immune blood. But he knows he is outnumbered…and quickly running out of time! I liked the movie, the zombies (changed from vampires from the book) where pretty nasty, and the action was fast paced, the slow bits got a bit dull though! Overall I liked it :)
