The Last King Of Scotland tells us its inspired by true events, but how accurate it is may be a matter for debate. I'm not questioning the brutality of Idi Amins regime that killed 300,000 Ugandans though!
Young Scottish doctor Nicholas Garrigan (James McAvoy) arrives in Uganda after graduating as a Doctor, and soon ends up treating president Idi Amin (Forest Whitaker). Impressed, Amin makes Garrigan his personal physician, confidant and right-hand man. he enjoys the good life in the capital, but Garrigan soon witnesses the atrocities, kidnappings and killings, and when he tries to leave he finds himself trapped with no passport.
I'd been after this movie since it came out, and it was well worth the wait! Whitaker is amazing as Amin, McAvoy is believable as his doctor, don't expect to see much of Gillian Anderson though, shes not in the movie much. Overall watch The Last King Of Scotland!
I collect DVDs, we have over 3,000 titles in the house now! I buy most from Car Boot Sales,Poundshops, markets, sales, and greatly reduced from the internet, but I only buy what I want to watch! I do a short report when I watch them, I got rid of almost 800 titles at Christmas 2010 (low score, duplicates, ones I'd never watch etc.) I continue to wade through them, and appear to be buying slightly less, but still watching like mad :)
