In Morons From Outer Space, four aliens who can't think their way out of a paper bag, much less conquer Earth; Desmond (Jimmy Nail) who is thick-headed and likes beer and accidentally leaves Bernard (Mel Smith) in space, Sandra (Joanne Pearce) who attracts the interest of British Commander Matteson (Dinsdale Landen), and Julian (Paul Brown) who is along for the ride and is pretty redundant, crash-land on a motorway in the UK.
They are interrogated by the authorities, but considered to be thick, and are then treated like rock stars by the public. Bernard has been saved from space by an unlikely wanderer who drops him off in the USA, where he is put in an insane asylum. Bernard escapes and tries to rejoin his friends.
I first watched Morons From Outer Space over 20 years ago, so was very pleased to find the DVD, but its left me wondering am I the fifth moron? It was just dull, how this movie got financed is beyond me, at best its an average TV special, if they cut a third out. You can see it rode on the back of Close Encounters of the Third Kinds popularity, there was a One Flew over the Cuckoos Nest scene in it too, but overall, very dated and dull!
I collect DVDs, we have over 3,000 titles in the house now! I buy most from Car Boot Sales,Poundshops, markets, sales, and greatly reduced from the internet, but I only buy what I want to watch! I do a short report when I watch them, I got rid of almost 800 titles at Christmas 2010 (low score, duplicates, ones I'd never watch etc.) I continue to wade through them, and appear to be buying slightly less, but still watching like mad :)
