In Shoot Em Up we meet Mr. Smith (Clive Owen), a drifter with extensive military training and a fondness for carrots, who wants nothing more than to be left alone, but he finds himself part of a complex political conspiracy after helping a pregnant woman who goes into labour while being chased by a hitman. After she is killed, Smith takes the baby and goes on the run with a prostitute named Donna (Monica Bellucci).
The unlikely family is trailed by the clever but ruthless Karl Hertz (Paul Giamatti) with his inexhaustible army of thugs. Smith pieces together the real story; a Senator who supports gun control had been breeding babies for their bone marrow to treat his cancer, and a prominent gun manufacturer has contracted Hertz to kill the babies.
The movie is perfectly named, Shoot Em Up is non-stop gunfights, each one more elaborate then the last, you certainly need to suspend logic and reality of this, but its so well done, its a great action movie, non-stop, funny and I'd certainly like to see a second instalment! Great!
I collect DVDs, we have over 3,000 titles in the house now! I buy most from Car Boot Sales,Poundshops, markets, sales, and greatly reduced from the internet, but I only buy what I want to watch! I do a short report when I watch them, I got rid of almost 800 titles at Christmas 2010 (low score, duplicates, ones I'd never watch etc.) I continue to wade through them, and appear to be buying slightly less, but still watching like mad :)
