The Day The Country Died is a history of anarcho-punk, told by some of the most influential personalities of the scene, including; Penny Rimbaud (Crass), Colin Jerwood (Conflict), Colin & Kevin (Flux of Pink Indians) Dick Lucas (Subhumans), Zillah Minx (Rubella Ballet), Gary Buckley (Dirt), Steve Lake (Zounds), Mark Wallis (Liberty), Gee Vaucher (Crass), Dave Hyndman (Hit Parade), Rob Millar (Amebix), Rodney Relax (Alternative), Stringy & Snout (Erratics), Gerard Evans (Flowers in the Dustbin) and more.
The interview footage is laced with both audio and visual performance from the scene including Crass, Conflict, Subhumans, Liberty, Toxic Waste, and Chumbawamba.
I really enjoyed The Day The Country Died, but on a personal note I was sad to see the Poison Girls didn't get a mention, and neither did The Mob, two of my favourite bands, but this is still a great DVD, very recommended if your into this music!
This isn't a trailer, but gives you an idea of what the DVD is about...
I collect DVDs, we have over 3,000 titles in the house now! I buy most from Car Boot Sales,Poundshops, markets, sales, and greatly reduced from the internet, but I only buy what I want to watch! I do a short report when I watch them, I got rid of almost 800 titles at Christmas 2010 (low score, duplicates, ones I'd never watch etc.) I continue to wade through them, and appear to be buying slightly less, but still watching like mad :)
