Carrie was Brian De Palmas commercial breakthrough, and is based on the novel by Stephen King, plus it helped launch the new teen-based horror films!
High school students Sue Snell (Amy Irving), Chris Hargensen(Nancy Allen) and Billy Nolan (John Traviolta) plot to avenge themselves on fellow student and telekinetic Carrie White (Sissy Spacek) after getting in trouble for pelting her with tampons after she gets her first period, to the disgust of Carries religion-obsessed mother (Piper Laurie).
They get popular boy Tommy Ross (William Katt) to be her date for the prom, and the stage is set for some heart-rending cruelty and fiery retribution!
Carrie is still a great movie, with the use of split screens, slow motion, colour filters, and a clever soundtrack still makes this essential viewing!
I collect DVDs, we have over 3,000 titles in the house now! I buy most from Car Boot Sales,Poundshops, markets, sales, and greatly reduced from the internet, but I only buy what I want to watch! I do a short report when I watch them, I got rid of almost 800 titles at Christmas 2010 (low score, duplicates, ones I'd never watch etc.) I continue to wade through them, and appear to be buying slightly less, but still watching like mad :)
