Romancing The Stone is the tale of Joan Wilder (Kathleen Turner) , a romantic novelist who flies to Columbia to deliver a treasure map, free her kidnapped sister. She finds herself thrust into an adventure with a fearless rogue Jack T Coulton (Michael Douglas) who resembles the fictional hero of her novels. Much fun is had by all and it has the obligatory happy ending.
Jewel Of The Nile is the sequel in which the couple are tricked into a perilous trek into the deserts of North Africa to solve the mystery of the Jewel, followed by the hot-tempered arch-enemy from the first movie.
I watched these back to back, its no surprise the first film is far better than the second, and I'm pleased there was no third! I suppose these are romantic comedies disguised as Indiana Jones style adventures, but they where OK, top movies in the 1980s, now they are at least still OK :)
I collect DVDs, we have over 3,000 titles in the house now! I buy most from Car Boot Sales,Poundshops, markets, sales, and greatly reduced from the internet, but I only buy what I want to watch! I do a short report when I watch them, I got rid of almost 800 titles at Christmas 2010 (low score, duplicates, ones I'd never watch etc.) I continue to wade through them, and appear to be buying slightly less, but still watching like mad :)
