In Alexander Director Oliver Stone has made a movie about the life of Alexander the Great. Despite his death at only 32, Alexander packed some unimaginable conquests into his life, by ruling almost half the world. Narration is provided by Ptolemy (Anthony Hopkins), so the weight of the film can focus on the personality of Alexander (Colin Farrell), rather than just the battles, we find he is a man stricken by personal insecurities and conflicts, that come in direct contrast to his achievements.

Dealings with his mother Queen Olympias (Angelina Jolie), and father King Philip II (Val Kilmer) plague him, as does his relationship with his wife, Roxane (Rosario Dawson). Eventually we get an epic battle, which sees Alexanders troops drive across India in a conquering quest, but while his minions struggle, Alexander demands success, and it becomes clear that he is his own worst enemy.

Alexander is a good movie, perhaps a little long, but very enjoyable! As with all Stones movies, another success!
