Jackie Brown is the movie of Elmore Leonards 1995 novel Rum Punch, adapted and directed by Quentin Tarantino for a tiny US$12 million, who moved the action from Miami to LA, and changed the main character from white to black. Arms dealer Ordell Robbie (Samuel L Jackson), lives with perpetually stoned babe Melanie (Bridget Fonda), he teams up with his old buddy Louis Gara (Robert De Niro), who is just out of prison.
ATF agent Ray Nicolette (Michael Keaton) and cop Mark Dargus (Michael Bowen) bust air stewardess Jackie Brown (Pam Grier), smuggling money into the country for Ordell, Ordell bails Jackie, but when bail bondsman Max Cherry (Robert Forster) picks her up at the jail, they start a romantic relationship. With mistrust and suspicions when Jackie pits Ordell and the cops against each other, convincing him she is going to double-cross the cops.
Jackie Brown is a great movie, I've seen it a few times and will again, the soundtrack really suits the movie too! Recommended!
I collect DVDs, we have over 3,000 titles in the house now! I buy most from Car Boot Sales,Poundshops, markets, sales, and greatly reduced from the internet, but I only buy what I want to watch! I do a short report when I watch them, I got rid of almost 800 titles at Christmas 2010 (low score, duplicates, ones I'd never watch etc.) I continue to wade through them, and appear to be buying slightly less, but still watching like mad :)
