The Happening starts in New York Citys Central Park with a crowd of people enjoying a summers day, the carefree scene soon takes a terrifying turn, hordes of people begin to commit suicide. Attempting to make sense of the pandemonium, many believe it is a terrorist attack, and its suspected a deadly toxin is being released into the air.
Elliot Moore (Mark Wahlberg) a science teacher in Philadelphia learns of New York and meets up with his wife Alma Moore (Zooey Deschanel), his friend Julian (John Leguizamo), and Julianss daughter, Jess (Ashlyn Sanchez). They escape the city by train, but it is evacuated in the middle of a small Pennsylvania town. The destination has stopped responding, and perhaps its not a terrorist attack.
The Happening is without doubt the best movie I have seen all year, thought provoking, unsettling and leaves you with an ending that makes you think again. The most recommended movie ever, you have to see this!
I collect DVDs, we have over 3,000 titles in the house now! I buy most from Car Boot Sales,Poundshops, markets, sales, and greatly reduced from the internet, but I only buy what I want to watch! I do a short report when I watch them, I got rid of almost 800 titles at Christmas 2010 (low score, duplicates, ones I'd never watch etc.) I continue to wade through them, and appear to be buying slightly less, but still watching like mad :)
