Earlier tonight I watched The Manchurian Candidate on DVD. The X-Files was always one of my favorite shows, this is the conspiracy of X-Files, but without the Sci-Fi!
This movie is an updated remake of a John Frankenheimers movie of the same name, I haven't seen the original but if the remake is this good, the original is worth checking out too!
During the Gulf War Sergeant Raymond Shaw (Liev Schreiber) saves his comrades when his Commanding Officer, Major Ben Marco (Denzel Washington), is knocked unconscious, Shaw receives the Congressional Medal of Honor for his bravery.
Back to the present day, Eleanor Shaw (Meryl Streep) insists on the Vice Presidential slot for her son, the War Hero, on her Partys ticket. Eleanor has political ties with the very powerful Manchurian Global corporation. Meanwhile, Major Marco is plagued by incoherent memories of what happened in Iraq. could his memories be manufactured? His investigation seems to point to brainwashing and a conspiracy.
