In The Golden Compass, based on the best-selling book Northern Lights, a wondrous parallel world where witches fly in the skies, Ice Bears rule the frozen North, and people have their souls outside their bodies in the form of animals, a young girl, Lyra Belacqua (Dakota Blue Richards), holds the fate of the universe in her hands when she becomes the keeper of the Alethiometer, a Golden Compass.
She discovers that her world, and those beyond, are threatened by plans of the glamorous Marisa Coulter (Nicole Kidman), with the help of Lord Asriel (Daniel Craig) and a group of unlikely allies, Lyra embarks on an extraordinary quest that celebrates courage and friendship against all odds!
The Golden Compass is an awesome movie, but its one of those films that just stop, this time waiting for the next part, but because of the expense making The Golden Compass (US$180 Million), part 2 now looks in jeopardy, I want to see the rest, dammit! Stunning, fantastic, and well worth seeing!
I collect DVDs, we have over 3,000 titles in the house now! I buy most from Car Boot Sales,Poundshops, markets, sales, and greatly reduced from the internet, but I only buy what I want to watch! I do a short report when I watch them, I got rid of almost 800 titles at Christmas 2010 (low score, duplicates, ones I'd never watch etc.) I continue to wade through them, and appear to be buying slightly less, but still watching like mad :)
