I always thought the original 1976 The Omen was pretty dull, so is the remake any better? The Omen (2006) is a gripping progressive movie, increasing the tension with certainty as to be quite unsettling.
Robert Thorn (Liev Schreiber) is a high-ranking American diplomat, who finds he is the father of the anti-Christ, although the movie makers are careful not to use words like this :) It cleverly incorporates recent history in its rationale as to why the Church expected an entity like Damien, the devils son, to be born, giving it a quite contemporary feel that is just a little too close to the truth: it makes the entire film seem quite plausible and might make even the most devout atheist consider taking up some form of religious faith as it proceeds to exactly correlate with the events of today.
The Omen is not unlike the original, but better, tighter, and no dull moments! Defiantly recommended!
BTW 666 may not be the number of the beast, it could be 616! And why can evil forces lock a church so a priest can't escape his death, but they can't so Damien can? Hmm!
I collect DVDs, we have over 3,000 titles in the house now! I buy most from Car Boot Sales,Poundshops, markets, sales, and greatly reduced from the internet, but I only buy what I want to watch! I do a short report when I watch them, I got rid of almost 800 titles at Christmas 2010 (low score, duplicates, ones I'd never watch etc.) I continue to wade through them, and appear to be buying slightly less, but still watching like mad :)
