Brick is a detective story set around a California high school, it combines the teen and film noir genres. When loner Brendan Frye (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) gets a desperate-sounding call from his ex-love Emily (Emilie de Ravin), he feels compelled to help her, plunging himself into the seedy world of drug dealing, which pulled her away from him in the first place.
Brendan is reminiscent of Humphrey Bogarts iconic Sam Spade, and it is filled with other archetypical characters like the femme fatale (Nora Zehetner) and the eccentric crimelord (Lukas Haas).
Overall, Brick was an enjoyable movie, it kept your interest, in what could be a very dull story, a job well done!
I collect DVDs, we have over 3,000 titles in the house now! I buy most from Car Boot Sales,Poundshops, markets, sales, and greatly reduced from the internet, but I only buy what I want to watch! I do a short report when I watch them, I got rid of almost 800 titles at Christmas 2010 (low score, duplicates, ones I'd never watch etc.) I continue to wade through them, and appear to be buying slightly less, but still watching like mad :)
