THX 1138 is George Lucas first movie, he creates a futuristic world that bald, drone-like workers take drugs to regulate their moods and libidos. THX 1138 (Robert Duvall) and his mate LUH 3417 (Maggie McOmie) build the robotic police that oversee their lives, the world is very reminiscent of George Orwells 1984!
LUH decides she and THX should stop the medication, and their sense of humanity and love for each other are unleashed, but its not long before they are imprisoned for this crime, then LUH learns that she is pregnant. Separated from LUH, THX goes on a journey to find her, with the help of rebel SEN 5241 (Donald Pleasence) and hologram SRT (Don Pedro Colley), and eventually attempts escape to the outside world (a-la-Highlander 2)!
THX 1138 is a very intersting movie, it shows were Lucas started his career and is an enjoyable story, good if your at a loose end!
I collect DVDs, we have over 3,000 titles in the house now! I buy most from Car Boot Sales,Poundshops, markets, sales, and greatly reduced from the internet, but I only buy what I want to watch! I do a short report when I watch them, I got rid of almost 800 titles at Christmas 2010 (low score, duplicates, ones I'd never watch etc.) I continue to wade through them, and appear to be buying slightly less, but still watching like mad :)
