In American Gothic, a group of yuppies charter a plane for a camping trip, only to find themselves making an emergency landing on an isolated island off the US coast. They are taken in by the only inhabitants, Ma (Yvonne De Carlo) and Pa (Rod Steiger), still living in the 1920s, who invite them to stay the night.
The campers are introduced to the psychotic, middle-aged children Woody (Michael J Pollard), Teddy (William Hootkins), and Fanny (Janet Wright), who appear to be 50 but act like they are 12! What happens next is very predictable, but at least it has people who can act in it!
My major gripe about American Gothic is the back cover - it tells you the full plot of the movie, plus the outcome, which really spoiled twist at the end! Don't bother with this movie, just pop into your local DVD store and read the back cover - madness!
I collect DVDs, we have over 3,000 titles in the house now! I buy most from Car Boot Sales,Poundshops, markets, sales, and greatly reduced from the internet, but I only buy what I want to watch! I do a short report when I watch them, I got rid of almost 800 titles at Christmas 2010 (low score, duplicates, ones I'd never watch etc.) I continue to wade through them, and appear to be buying slightly less, but still watching like mad :)
