Tropic Thunder is about making a Vietnam War film, that derails because of the giant egos; Tugg Speedman (Ben Stiller), always plays action heroes, but his career is on the rocks, Jeff Portnoy (Jack Black) is a drug-addicted comic who wants to change his image, Kirk Lazarus (Robert Downey Jr), one of the worlds most awarded actors, totally immerses himself into a role, so Lazarus has his skin dyed in order to portray an African-American soldier!

After their outrageous behaviour lands the director, Damien Cockburn (Steve Coogan), in trouble with producer Les Grossman (Tom Cruise), Cockburn takes the advice of Vietnam veteran Four Leaf Tayback (Nick Nolte), and drops the actors off in the jungle, planning to film guerrilla-style with hidden cameras. But the group stumble on a heroin production camp, and the actors are unaware that they are in real danger!

There was a lot of fuss about his good Tropic Thunder was, I found it dull and predicatable, yawn, although Cruise carried the movie with fantastic makeup and acting!

Here is the trailer...
