Velvet Goldmine is set in a fantasy 1970s, with glam-rock stars based on actual pop stars. Journalist Arthur Stuart (Christian Bale) sets out to discover what happened to Brian Slade (Jonathan Rhys-Meyers), the bisexual glam star who crashed and burned after faking his own assasination.
Curt Wild (Ewan McGregor) is inspired by Iggy Pop, and Brian Slade inspired by David Bowie. Jerry Devine (Eddie Izzard) is great! This movie bombed at the box office, perhaps that why I love it, the soundtrack is awesome, and the movie is cleverly cut with real 1970s footage, you start to believe!
Overall if you like glam-rock, you need to see Velvet Goldmine! Recommended!
Here is Brian Slade - Babys on Fire, from the movie...
I collect DVDs, we have over 3,000 titles in the house now! I buy most from Car Boot Sales,Poundshops, markets, sales, and greatly reduced from the internet, but I only buy what I want to watch! I do a short report when I watch them, I got rid of almost 800 titles at Christmas 2010 (low score, duplicates, ones I'd never watch etc.) I continue to wade through them, and appear to be buying slightly less, but still watching like mad :)
