The Great Rock n Roll Swindle is director Julien Temples bizarre fictional documentary that charts the rise and fall of punks most notorious band, the Sex Pistols, through the eyes of its calculating manager, Malcolm McLaren, pursued by Steve Jones.

Mixing animation, archive footage and new material, the 1980 film presents the bands success as an elaborate scam, perpetrated by McLaren to make a million pounds (when that was a lot of money!) at the expense of record companies, outraged moralists and even the fans and the band members themselves.

The Great Rock Rock n Roll Swindle is a fantastic movie, if you are a Pistols fan, I'm unsure how the rest of the world will take it, but as far as I'm concerned, its essential!
