In People I Know, Eli Wurman (Al Pacino), is a powerful behind-the-scenes man in show business who finds himself falling into a very public scandal. Years of overwork, constant smoking and drinking, plus ceaseless tension are taking their toll, leaving him on the verge of collapse.
His biggest client is Cary Launer (Ryan ONeal), a fading film star with political aspirations, who after attending a Broadway opening, asks Eli for a favor, go and bail his girlfriend, Jilli Hopper (Tea Leoni), out of jail and keep an eye on her. However she is murderded while in his care, will Eli get accused, or will the murderer come after him too?
People I Knows DVD cover says this is a thriller, its not really, its more of a drama, but with Pachino in it, its still very good, I'm sure he could win an Oscar for taking a dump in a paper bag if he tried! Overall, surprisingly good!
I collect DVDs, we have over 3,000 titles in the house now! I buy most from Car Boot Sales,Poundshops, markets, sales, and greatly reduced from the internet, but I only buy what I want to watch! I do a short report when I watch them, I got rid of almost 800 titles at Christmas 2010 (low score, duplicates, ones I'd never watch etc.) I continue to wade through them, and appear to be buying slightly less, but still watching like mad :)
